Meet: Victoria

Although Victoria hasn’t been on the show much, I thought you should all know her a little better since she’s actually a part of each show. She was kind enough to create the album art for the show.

What is your name?

I go by my alter ego alias, Victoria 😉

How did you come to read Fifty Shades of Grey?

I had seen it mentioned online and got curious, so decided to investigate!

Did you read an actual book or an ebook?

Read all three books on my trusty Kindle!

Which is your favorite book in the series?

Although the first book introduced the characters and set up the story, I really enjoyed Darker since it had plenty of fantastic scenes, and it kept revealing more and more about Christian.

What is your favorite scene in the series?

There are a few that pop into my head, but if I had to choose just one, I think it’d be the lipstick scene. In fact, recently I completed an illustration with my interpretation of that part of the book! It was such an intimate moment. It dealt with so many different emotions and feelings and Christian showed a vulnerability that hadn’t been shown before. So much wrapped up in one short moment in time.

How many times have you read the series?

Once, but I go back and find sections that pertain to the illustrations I’m working on to get the correct details.

Outside of Fifty Shades of Grey, what is your favorite book or series?

Don’t laugh, but one of my favorite books is one I read several years ago called The Moonspinners by Mary Stewart. I had seen the movie version of it on TV then just had to read the book! It was an exciting story about a young woman from England that gets wrapped up in all sorts of danger and intrigue while on Easter holiday in Greece. Of course there is also a dashing young Englishman involved as well!

Are you married, dating, or single?

I spend a fair amount of time with someone I refer to as ‘The Gentleman,’ so I suppose you could say I’m dating. 😉

Who would you like to see play Christian and Anastasia in the movie?

I don’t really have a preference for any particular actors. I actually think casting ‘unknown’ actors that really fit the roles would be great! Just seems like it’d be easier to become immersed in the movie by not being distracted by *insert famous actor here* portraying Christian or Ana or any of the other characters. It’d also be exciting to see fresh new talent!

If you were to meet E L James today, what 2 questions would you ask her?

1. Since the success of the books, what positive experience has been the most unexpected for you?

2. Since the success of the books, what negative experience has been the most unexpected for you?

When did you start your website/fanpage?

My Ruffles & Restraints site went live in May of this year.

What is the goal or mission of your fanpage/website?

From the beginning, even when still in the planning stages, my aim was to simply fill my site with as many illustrations as I could and try to keep improving my skills. It was also meant to be a place apart from my other sites where I wouldn’t feel I had to censor what I created and be able to explore other subject matter. It was an unexpected surprise that Fifty Shades sort of became my muse for ideas to illustrate, but it has been great since it has really challenged me to create quite complicated pieces. It was also a very pleasant surprise to get the wonderful support from sites like yours and others, and to have so many people visit and view my work. I’d never really shared much of my personal work publicly before, but am grateful for all the lovely feedback I have received so far. I suppose a big goal would be that my site would help me to add illustration to my professional repertoire!
